Shopify's built-in receipt printing requires Shopify POS (paid plan) or a Star Micronics CloudPRNT setup. If you just want to print receipts from your Shopify store to a USB thermal printer, here's what you're up against:

You need a compatible thermal printer, MenuForma Print Agent running on a connected computer, and the browser printing integration described on this page. Downloading the agent alone does not connect a store automatically.
Send a test receipt through the configured browser integration. Confirm item names, quantities, totals, currency symbols, paper width and the selected printer before using the setup for customer receipts.
The browser integration needs the local Print Agent to be available. Keep it running on the computer connected to the printer and reconnect the integration after changing the printer or connection settings.
