Still deciding on a QR code menu?
Practical answers before you change the way guests see your menu.
We already have paper menus. Why add a QR code menu?
You do not have to replace your paper menus. A QR code menu gives guests another way to see your latest dishes, prices and photos, while you can update that information without reprinting every menu. Keep paper copies for guests who prefer them, and let the digital menu support your service rather than get in its way.
Our QR code already opens a PDF. What would be different?
A PDF can be a useful starting point, but guests may need to zoom around a page designed for print. A MenuForma QR code menu presents dishes in mobile-friendly categories with individual photos and descriptions. You can edit a price or hide a sold-out dish without redesigning and uploading the whole PDF. You can also import your existing menu and review the extracted items before publishing.
What if guests do not want to scan, download an app or use their phone?
Guests can open your QR code menu in their phone's browser without installing an app or creating an account just to browse. You can also share its link on your website or social pages. Keep a paper menu or offer help for anyone who prefers not to use a phone. The online menu needs an internet connection, so paper copies are also a sensible backup when connectivity is poor.
Will creating and updating a QR code menu take too much time?
You can start from a PDF, photo or website menu link, then check the imported dishes and prices before sharing your QR code menu. After setup, edit dishes, prices and availability yourself from your dashboard on a phone or computer. There is no need to contact us for routine changes or rebuild the whole menu whenever one item changes.
Is the free QR code menu just a trial, or will scans suddenly cost extra?
MenuForma's Free Forever plan is not a time-limited trial. Create a QR code menu for one restaurant in one language without a credit card, with no QR code scan limit. Paid plans add capabilities such as multilingual menus and delivery or takeaway workflows. You can start with the free plan and upgrade if those extras fit your business; using an online payment provider may involve its own fees.
Will I need to reprint QR codes when dishes, prices or our restaurant name change?
No. Updating dishes, prices or the displayed restaurant name does not change the destination of your QR code menu. When you change your menu URL through MenuForma's own settings, the previous MenuForma address is kept as a redirect. Keep the restaurant and menu active, and test a printed code after major changes. A QR code created through a separate third-party link service follows that service's rules.
Do we have to switch to online ordering or buy new terminals?
No. You can use your QR code menu just to display dishes and continue taking orders through your team as usual. Guests use their own phones to browse, so menu display does not require dedicated terminals. Add ordering only if it suits your service, with delivery, takeaway and other features depending on your plan. Any optional printing setup has its own hardware requirements.
Why choose MenuForma, and can I see the QR code menu before committing?
MenuForma brings menu editing, photos, QR sharing and optional ordering into one place, with a free starting point rather than a required subscription. View the menu examples on this page, then create your own QR code menu for free to see whether it fits your brand and daily work. You do not have to move every table to digital at once: try it alongside paper menus and expand when you are comfortable.
What types of food businesses can use a digital QR Code Menu?
A digital QR Code Menu suits restaurants, cafés and bakeries, hotels and room service, food trucks, bars and pubs, and fast-casual restaurants.
