Vendus QR Code Menu and Online Ordering in Portugal
MenuForma is a QR code menu, online ordering and delivery-ordering platform that connects to Portuguese Vendus accounts so restaurants can issue invoicing documents from their orders. Customers browse and order through MenuForma; the restaurant owner requests the document in MenuForma and Vendus issues it once the connection and billing settings are ready.
How do MenuForma and Vendus work together?
MenuForma provides the customer-facing menu and ordering experience, while Vendus issues the invoicing document requested through the integration. This connection is for restaurants using a Portuguese Vendus account that want digital ordering alongside their invoicing workflow.
| Restaurant requirement | What the platforms do |
|---|---|
| Show dishes, photos and prices on a phone | MenuForma publishes a digital menu accessible through a QR code or a direct link. |
| Accept dine-in, collection or delivery orders | MenuForma receives orders through the service modes the restaurant enables and its plan supports. |
| Issue an invoicing document for an order | The owner requests issuance in MenuForma; Vendus creates the document using the selected store and register. |
| Deliver the food to the customer | The restaurant arranges fulfilment through its own operation or a separately configured delivery service. |
Vendus provides an API through which other systems can request documents and retrieve issued documents. The API's wider capabilities should not be confused with the specific features implemented by the MenuForma connector. See the official Vendus API explanation.
How do I create a QR code menu and start taking orders with MenuForma?
Create your account, add your restaurant and publish the menu before distributing its QR code or link. To accept orders, enable the appropriate service modes and check which features your MenuForma plan includes.
- Create your account and select the restaurant. If you manage several locations, make sure you are editing the correct restaurant.
- Add the menu. Enter items or import an existing menu from a PDF, photo or website link. Review extracted dishes, prices, categories and descriptions before publishing.
- Prepare the customer experience. Review item photos, options and the languages you want to offer. Check translations and allergen information for accuracy.
- Choose how to accept orders. Enable dine-in, collection or delivery where available. Configure operating hours, charges and payment methods to match your operation.
- Publish and check the customer journey. Open the menu on a phone and review the items, options and order summary before promoting it.
- Share the QR code or direct link. Place the code on tables or share the menu link through your website, social profiles and restaurant communications.
Start with MenuForma's QR code menu and online ordering platform. Online payment setup is separate from connecting Vendus for invoicing.
How do I connect a Portuguese Vendus account to MenuForma?
Connect Vendus from MenuForma's Integrations page using the API key from your Portuguese Vendus account. After connecting, confirm the store, API-type register and billing configuration before issuing documents.
- Prepare the Vendus account. Confirm that you use the Portuguese Vendus service and have access to the API capabilities required by your account.
- Enable API access in Vendus. Open the API area in the Vendus back office and copy the key. Vendus documentation identifies this area as APPS > API; navigation can differ between back-office versions.
- Prepare the register. In Vendus register settings, make sure the register used by the integration is of type API, or programmatic integration.
- Complete the fiscal setup in Vendus. Check company details, communication with Portugal's tax authority and the relevant document series. Follow Vendus guidance and your accountant's instructions; do not paste tax-portal credentials into MenuForma's API-key field. Vendus provides an official guide to document-series communication.
- Sign in to MenuForma as the restaurant owner. Open Integrations, find Vendus, paste the API key and select Connect Vendus.
- Confirm the store and register. MenuForma may preselect a store and register after connecting. Check that both belong to the establishment you want to invoice.
- Prepare MenuForma billing. Open billing settings, enable the required configuration, create tax classes and choose a default class. Review any classes assigned to items and categories.
- Review additional charges. If the document should include service, delivery, packaging or other adjustments, check the option to match the document total to the order total and the selected components.
Keep the API key confidential. Do not place it in a public menu, a comment or a screenshot shared with customers.
How do I issue a Vendus invoice from a MenuForma order?
Open the order in MenuForma and select Issue invoice to request the document from Vendus. Connecting the account does not automatically issue an invoice for every incoming order.
Before confirming, review the items, amounts, available document type and customer fiscal details where needed. After issuance, check the document number returned by Vendus and use the PDF download option to obtain the document.
Issuing through the production application can create a real Vendus document. Do not use fictitious orders to experiment with live invoicing; ask support how to validate the setup in an appropriate context.
Frequently asked questions about MenuForma and Vendus in Portugal
Can I use MenuForma without replacing Vendus?
Yes. MenuForma adds a digital menu and order-taking experience while your Vendus account continues to issue documents requested through the integration. MenuForma does not need to replace every function of your existing POS.
Does this connection support Vendus accounts from other countries?
Do not assume it does. The connection described here uses the Portuguese Vendus service; a Vendus website in another country does not establish compatibility with that country's accounts.
Do I need a developer to connect Vendus to MenuForma?
You do not need to build a new integration to use MenuForma's existing connector. The owner enters the API key and selects the store and register, although the Vendus account and billing configuration still need to be prepared correctly.
Must customers scan a QR code to order?
No. Customers can also open the public menu link on a phone or computer. A QR code is a convenient way to reach the same menu, particularly when it is displayed on a restaurant table.
Can MenuForma accept takeaway, collection and delivery orders?
Yes, through the ordering modes available and enabled for the restaurant. Set the relevant hours, collection or delivery conditions and charges before sharing the menu with customers.
Does connecting Vendus provide delivery drivers?
No. The Vendus connection supports invoicing; it does not book couriers or guarantee delivery coverage. Arrange fulfilment through your restaurant team or a separate delivery service.
Does connecting Vendus enable online payments?
No. Payment methods and any payment-provider connection are configured separately in MenuForma. Issuing a Vendus document does not process a payment or, by itself, confirm that funds have been received.
Is MenuForma free for restaurants using Vendus?
MenuForma offers a free plan, but check the features and limits of the plan you choose for your operation. Vendus accounts, payment processing and delivery services can have separate terms and costs; a free digital-menu plan does not make the entire ordering and invoicing operation free.
Will my entire menu and stock automatically synchronise with Vendus?
Do not assume full, two-way catalogue and inventory synchronisation. The workflow described here is menu creation and order-taking in MenuForma, with document issuance through Vendus; verify any additional product or inventory synchronisation requirement separately.
Can I add a customer's Portuguese tax number to the invoice?
Yes. The owner can enter the customer's tax number, known in Portugal as the NIF, and review fiscal details before confirming issuance. Complete the fields requested for the customer and document type rather than issuing first and trying to correct the information afterwards.
Which document types does this integration support?
The connector can request FS, a simplified invoice, or FR, an invoice-receipt. Choose the appropriate document with your accountant's guidance; other types in Vendus's wider document catalogue are not automatically available through this connector. See Vendus's document-type definitions.
Why is Vendus connected but invoice issuance still fails?
A successful connection confirms account access, not that every invoicing prerequisite is complete. Check the API-type register, selected store, tax classes, default class and Vendus fiscal setup, then use the displayed error to identify the missing configuration.
Can delivery and packaging charges appear on the document?
They can be included when total matching is enabled and those components are selected. With total matching off, the connector sends item lines only; check the document total and the tax treatment of additional charges before issuance.
Can I download or print the Vendus invoice?
Yes. An issued Vendus document can be downloaded as a PDF; thermal printing depends on compatible printing configuration. An internal order receipt is not the same thing as the document issued by Vendus.
Who should manage the Vendus API key?
The account owner or authorised account administrator should manage the connection; MenuForma restricts these integration operations to the restaurant owner. The key enables actions in the Vendus account and must not be shared with customers or exposed in the public menu.
How can a restaurant in Portugal get started?
Create and review your menu in MenuForma, configure the ordering modes and prepare your Portuguese Vendus account. Then connect Vendus in Integrations and confirm the store, register and billing configuration before issuing documents for real orders.
MenuForma and Vendus are separate products. Describing a technical integration does not establish an official partnership or replace advice from your accountant about the restaurant's tax circumstances.
