What is a menu QR code?
It is a scannable link to a restaurant's digital offering. Guests open it in a phone browser to explore dishes, descriptions and prices. With MenuForma, you can offer browsing only or enable table ordering, while keeping the content editable from your dashboard.
Do guests need an app to open the menu?
No. Guests use a compatible phone camera and browser, so they do not need to download a MenuForma app or create an account just to browse. They do need a usable device and a working internet connection.
Can I start from a PDF, photo or existing website?
Yes. Import a PDF, image or website URL, then organize and edit the result in MenuForma. You can also add dishes directly. Before publishing, review names, prices, options, descriptions and important notices so the page reflects what your restaurant actually serves.
Do I need a new menu QR code after changing a price?
Not for a routine content update at the same destination. Edit the price, save your changes and check the public page on a phone. Your existing print can keep working; a new print is needed if you replace the destination or change the printed design.
Can a menu QR code be browse-only as well as used for orders?
Yes. Choose a read-only display or enable table ordering to suit your service. Staff can still answer questions and take orders in person. Pickup and delivery ordering are available with Regular and require their own setup, so guests follow the right journey for each service.
What does the Free Forever plan include?
Free Forever is not a time-limited trial. It includes one restaurant, one primary-language menu, QR menu display, basic black-and-white QR codes and table ordering. No credit card is required to register; compare current plans before adding paid capabilities.
Which capabilities need Regular, and what do online payments cost?
Regular is needed for multiple languages, delivery and takeaway ordering, online payments and multiple restaurants. Online payments also need a supported, configured Stripe connection. MenuForma lists a 0.6% platform fee per Stripe transaction, and Stripe processing fees may also apply.
Can I put allergen information on the digital menu?
Yes. You can add the supported 14 EU allergen categories to dishes and keep labels alongside their descriptions. Your restaurant is responsible for checking ingredients, recipe changes, cross-contact information and local requirements; guests should speak to staff about individual dietary needs.
Where should I print and place the code?
Use a clear, high-contrast print on table stands, counter signs or cards. Add an instruction such as “Scan to view our menu”, leave space around the pattern and keep it well lit. Test the finished print from a comfortable distance on different phones before making more copies.
What if a guest has no signal, battery or interest in scanning?
Keep paper copies, a short web link and staff assistance available. A browser page requires a working internet connection, and some guests simply prefer personal service. Offering both options lets people choose a comfortable way to browse and order without losing the welcome your team provides.
